Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani saw Karan Johar return to the director’s chair for his first feature length film after more than seven years. The upcoming film stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in leading roles along with Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. Karan recently took to social media to announce the talkie wrap of his upcoming directorial.

Sharing the news, Karan shared a BTS video from the film’s sets, featuring Ranveer, Dharmendra, Shabana and the rest of the cast and crew. Alia also makes an appearance via video chat. Ranveer is heard speaking of how he had always wanted to work with Karan and do a Dharma film, but little did he know that his first Dharma film would be directed by the filmmaker himself. The upcoming film is bankrolled under the banner of Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios.

In the caption of the post, Karan called the film a ‘piece of his heart’ and said it was a journey he would hold close forever. The filmmaker also added that sitting in the director’s chair after years ‘felt like coming home'. He also thanked the cast and crew of the film, calling them legends and superstars.

Alia shared the post on her Instagram stories, speaking of how she had the best time ever with the best crew.

Sharing the video on his social media as well, Ranveer wrote “Many days of - hearty laughs, tears, mischief, love, blood & sweat.

Karan’s last feature length directorial was 2016’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The filmmaker had also directed segments in the Netflix anthologies Lust Stories(2018) and Ghost Stories(2020).
