Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani: Ranveer Singh says Alia Bhatt brings out the best in him as a performer

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani marks Karan Johar’s full-length feature directorial in almost seven years. The upcoming romantic film features Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. Ranveer recently opened up about the film, which sees him reuniting with his Gully Boy co-star, Alia.

In a conversation with ETimes, Ranveer said he is ‘honoured’ to be Karan Johar’s leading man in the film. “He’s made cult films that we have grown up on. It’s a Karan Johar romantic family dramedy, a genre that he has full ownership of,” Ranveer said about Karan.

But despite the film falling under a familiar genre, Ranveer revealed that the makers have tried to ‘push the envelope’ when it comes to the characterisation. Ranveer also talked about how much he enjoyed working with his co-stars that includes Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi in pivotal roles. He singled out Alia in particular, remarking that the two had a ‘great working relationship’. The actor said that Alia brought out the best in him as a performer and she has a gift of elevating her co-stars’ performances.

Ranveer also added that Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is a film he is very interested in bringing to audiences, as it is a ‘colourful and a feel-good family entertainer’. The film, which he said carries a certain ‘lightness’ to it, is something he hopes audiences will look forward to after the difficult times the world has gone through due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The film is produced by Johar’s Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios.

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani will be out on February 10, 2023 in theatres.

Meanwhile, Ranveer will next be seen in Jayeshbhai Jordaar, which will be released on May 13, 2022. The star is also keeping himself busy filming his upcoming movie, Cirkus.
