Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani: The REAL reason Karan Johar changed the release date of Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt starrer

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, helmed by Karan Johar, will now be released in April 2023 instead of February 2023 as originally planned. And we've now got a reason behind it.

One more love song is all that's needed for Karan Johar's star-studded romance musical to be finished. After Alia's maternity leave, the song starring the movie's youthful love stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, will be filmed in the Alps.

A source close to the project was quoted as saying by TOI, “Karan was advised to scrap the pending song and release the film as per schedule in February 2023. But he feels the song is an essential part of the narrative. Rather than rush release Rock Aur Rani’s raga of romance, Karan will wait for Alia to return to work and fly down especially for the song to Europe with his young lead.”

For Alia, the previous several months have been a blur as she was working on back-to-back projects. She filmed Sanjay Leela Bhansali blockbuster Gangubai Kathiawadi, followed by SS Rajamouli's global hit RRR, and then Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra. Alia vigorously promoted all three films, too. Before going on maternity leave, it's just Karan Johar's movie that is left to be wrapped.

Meanwhile, Karan Johar announced the new release date of the film two days ago with a note. Karan's note on his social media account read: “After 7 years, it's time for me to return to my first home - the cinemas. I had the absolute honour of working with not one, but many illustrious actors on the set of my film. The familial nostalgic feeling of an ensemble cast, creating music that captivates the hearts and a story that runs deep to the roots of our family traditions. It's that time again -to huddle with your family and friends, buy the popcorn and witness just sheer love & entertainment unfold on the big screen. We're overwhelmed and impatiently excited to finally inform... Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani in cinemas on 28th April 2023.”
