‘Rocky Bhai’ Yash is the number one actor in Bollywood now, says Shahid Kapoor

Fans of different stars may have varying opinions, but there is no denying that Rocking Star Yash (and director Prashant Neel) took Kannada cinema from near obscurity and put it well and truly on the world map. The two-part KGF saga is known world-wide and caught the attention of audiences across the globe, making it a mind-blowing Rs 1200+ crore box office success. The interesting bit here is that a lion’s share of this came from the Hindi version of the Kannada film, with Telugu coming in a close second, which goes to show just how popular the Rocking Star and the film franchise is in north India.

Shahid Kapoor, who was set to have a box office clash with Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2 way back in April, but then bowed out of that race by pushing his film, Jersey, ahead by a week. But KGF2, which got off to a phenomenal start, continued its box office onslaught and eventually, when Jersey released a week later, it failed to make an impression. Shahid, who was on Karan Johar’s Koffee with Karan recently with his Kabir Singh co-star Kiara Advani was quizzed about who he thought is the number 1 actor and actress in Bollywood. While he named Kiara as the numero uno in Hindi cinema, as far as the men go, Shahid first said that it was up for discussion, but that at the moment it had to be Rocky Bhai, referring to Rocking Star Yash’s character from the KGF saga.

Meanwhile, KGF, which was envisioned as one Kannada film initially and then became a two-part franchise, will be getting a third chapter at some point. At the end of KGF: Chapter 2, the makers had teased a third instalment, which, fans assume will be about Rocky Bhai’s rise from being the most wanted man in India to being the most wanted in the world.
