Rocky starring Vasanth Ravi and veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja in the lead has been in the conversation for a while now. The movie, which is touted to be an intense action drama, finally has a release date.

The makers of the movie have finally made the announcement to confirm that the movie will get a theatrical release and not an OTT release as speculated. Rocky is now set to hit theatres on December 23.

“The raw and gritty world of Rocky is making its way to theatres!!Rowdy Pictures is proud to present this one of a kind film. Make your way to the theatres and witness the world of Rocky from December 23,” (sic) wrote Lahiri Music in its tweet. This tweet was also retweeted by Vignesh Shivan.

The movie, which is directed by Arun Matheswaran, is presented by Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara's Rowdy Pictures. The movie was acquired by them in December last year, and also called the movie the most intense film they have had to offer, in a tweet a few months back.

The movie will see Bharathiraja play an elderly, yet powerful gangster, which is one of the many intriguing factors about the movie. Rocky has music by Darbuka Siva while Shreeyas Krishna and Nagooran are the cinematographer and editor, respectively.

A trailer for Rocky was released in September 2019, and it showed glimpses of a movie that will have the audiences on edge of their seats, with a treatment that looks unique and intriguing at the same time.
