Rohit Shetty finally finds his lady Singham! Deepika Padukone to headline Singham Again

Hold on to your hats Singham fans, as Rohit Shetty unveiled a huge announcement about the next instalment in his popular Cop Universe of films. The director had teased that the next film in the franchise would be titled Singham Again, and many assumed that the film would continue the chronicle of Ajay Devgn’s Bajirao Singham. But the director had a massive surprise in store when he announced that the upcoming film would feature the first ever Lady Singham of the Cop Universe, and it is none other than Deepika Padukone.

Rohit had attended the launch event of the song Current Laga Re from his upcoming film Cirkus, along with Ranveer Singh and Deepika. During the event, the director teased his big announcement, which led a wide eyed Ranveer to ask if Rohit was really doing it. Rohit remarked that it would be best to reveal it now since the audience would find it out one of these days.

Rohit spoke of how people always used to ask him when he would introduce a ‘Lady Singham’ in his Cop Universe. The director then declared “Singham Again main Lady Singham ayegi”, pointing to Deepika.

Singham Again marks the fifth instalment in the Cop Universe, which includes the films Singham(2011), Singham Returns(2014), Simmba(2018), and Sooryavanshi (2021). Ranveer had starred as the titular character in Simmba, reprising his role in Sooryavanshi as well. Rohit is also working on a web series set in the Cop Universe titled Indian Police Force. The Amazon Prime Video series will star Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty and Vivek Oberoi.

Meanwhile, Rohit is currently awaiting the release of his next film Cirkus, which stars Ranveer in a dual role. Deepika makes a special appearance in the song Current Laga Re, reprising the role of Meenamma, a character she had essayed in Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express.
