Also starring Pooja Hegde and Jacqueline Fernandez, Cirkus is Rohit Shetty’s first comedy since Golmaal Again.

Rohit Shetty, who has brought Hindi film viewers action extravaganza’s are now returning with a comedy for the big screens with Cirkus starring Ranveer Singh. The director has now opened up about why he decided to do a comedy again after a couple of action movies.
Talking about the comedy, the filmmaker told Pinkvilla, “We didn't make a comedy film for a long time. After Golmaal Again, we moved on to Simmba and Sooryavanshi, so it was a collective instinct to make a comedy now, that too with Ranveer, since we had not done this genre. His presence made it even more exciting."
Shetty also said that Cirkus is a movie that he always wanted to do and that it started during the pandemic. He added that Sooryavanshi was ready and they were waiting for theatres to reopen and so his technicians were at home so he wanted to restart the cycle for him with Cirkus. He further added that Cirkus has history and was the first film that entered production stage and that many producers and directors also visited their sets to see the filming.
Cirkus marks Shetty’s third collaboration with Ranveer Singh and also stars Pooja Hegde, Jaqueline Fernandez and Varun Sharma in important roles. Shetty’s last comedy was Golmaal Again, which was released in 2017.
Shetty is also set to make his OTT debut with Indian Police Force, a cop action drama which is set to be released on Prime Video. The series stars Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty, and Vivek Oberoi in the lead roles. The series is also set in the director’s cop universe which includes movies such as Singham, Singham Returns, Simmba, and Sooryavanshi.
