Last night, we’d told you that Kannada RJ-actor-filmmaker Rohitt’s next acting assignment is a film with director Hari Santhosh. Turns out, the film, which is being called I-LU, is the Kannada version of the filmmaker’s Bollywood debut Puppy Love, which has Tanuj Virwani in the lead. The heroines, Aashram fame Tridha Choudhury and Inside Edge fame Sapna Pabbi, will be a part of the Kannada version too, while Rohitt is joined by Dia actor Pruthvi Ambaar in a pivotal role.
Rohitt, we hear, has already left to London, where most of the film will be shot, while the rest of the cast and crew will join him next week. The concept of Puppy Love and I-LU centers on the feeling of being madly in love as experienced by young ones mostly. Hari’s film is being backed by Padmavathii Pictures, Vipul Sharma and Gold Harvest Films and is presented by Sri Swarnalatha Productions and M Ramesh Reddy. Nakul Abhayankar will score music for both versions of the film.
Speaking to us about collaborating with Hari, Rohitt had said, “I took up I-LU because I have not done a romantic comedy yet. My films have always been more serious and this seemed interesting, because puppy love is actually considered a medical condition. Also, he’s bringing together an interesting ensemble cast including Pruthvi, Tilak, Madhoo, Atul Kulkarni, among others. The film has been rewritten slightly for the Kannada version to suit the sensibilities of audiences there.”
The team is looking at winding up both Puppy Love and I-LU by September, following which Rohitt will begin work on his latest directorial. The actor-filmmaker, whose directorial debut Rowdy Fello is awaiting release, is making a sci-fi film next. Called GOAT (Greatest Of All Time), the film will have Rohitt in the lead, along with Sapna Pabbi, Diganth, Prakash Belawadi and Garuda Ram.
