Romeo, the romantic comedy drama which features music composer-turned-actor Vijay Antony and Mirnalini Ravi in the lead roles, hit the theatres in April 2024. The movie, which is helmed by Vinayak Vaithianathan earned mixed reviews from the critics and emerged as an average grosser. As per the recent updates, it has been confirmed that Romeo is now set to have its OTT release on Aha Tamil, on May 10, 2024, Friday.

Vijay Antony’s character and performance

The multi-faceted talent appears in the role of Arivazhagan aka Arivu, a loving husband who goes till any length for his young wife in the movie. The actor-musician bid goodbye to his much-explored angry young man avatar to play the soft-spoken character in Romeo and has played his part to near perfection.

A different Vijay Antony film

Romeo is indeed a much-needed break for Vijay Antony fans from the actor’s formulaic mass-action films. He has also bankrolled the project under his home banner, Vijay Antony Film Corporation.

Mirnalini Ravi’s unconventional role

The leading lady is not playing an ideal wife here. Instead, Mirnalini Ravi appears in the role of Leela, the much younger wife of Arivu who is least interested in her marriage. She is an ambitious woman who follows her heart, even if that means going against her conservative family. The actress, as always, delivered a decent performance as Leela in the movie.
