It’s been more than a year since Kannadathi-fame actor Kiran Raj’s latest cinema outing, Ronny hit theatres. A high-octane action drama, the film by director Gurutej Shetty, was not a box office success and it is only now that the makers have been able to get it to streaming. Ronny, which had the tagline The Ruler, has been picked up by Zee5 and will begin streaming exclusively on the platform from November 28. The film will be available via OTTplay Premium as well.

According to reports, Ronny was a gritty tale of ambition, crime, and redemption that delved into the dark underbelly of the criminal world. It centred on one man who is caught between his dream career and a brutal reality. The core of the story revolves around the duality of the protagonist, Raghava. An earnest, aspiring actor looking for his break to stardom, Raghava’s dreams are derailed when an encounter with the son of the city’s gangster, ends in the latter’s death. The accidental killing transforms Raghava into the feared and formidable figure known as Ronny—a name that quickly becomes synonymous with ruthlessness in the underworld.

After a five-year stint in prison, Ronny emerges hardened but still holds on to his dream of becoming a star.
