Even as Shahi Kabir’s Officer On Duty, starring Kunchacko Boban, is making waves in Kerala, the writer-director has announced the title of his next project - Ronth. The upcoming Malayalam film will star Dileesh Pothan and Roshan Mathew. From the first-look poster to the release window and genre details, check out all the updates about this new project.
A while ago, Roshan Mathew took to his Instagram handle to announce that he will be starring in Shahi Kabir’s next directorial along with Dileesh Pothan. The Paradise actor also confirmed that Ronth will hit theatres in 2025, though an exact release date was not revealed.
He also shared the first-look poster of Ronth, which featured Roshan Mathew and Dileesh Pothan in cop uniforms as they peer into a window. In the caption, Roshan wrote - “The streets never sleep, and neither do our night patrol officers.”
It is clear from the poster that Shahi Kabir, who previously helmed Ela Veezha Poonchira, will once again be narrating the story of cops. Shahi Kabir has penned notable movies such as the recently released Officer on Duty, Nayattu and Joseph.

Ronth is written and directed by Shahi Kabir. Headlined by Roshan Mathew and Dileesh Pothan, Ronth also feaures Sudhi Koppa, Arun Cherukavil, Lakshmi Menon, Nandanunni, and Krisha Kurup in supporting roles.
The Malayalam film is presented by Junglee Pictures, in collaboration with Festival Cinemas. Notably, Ronth marks the Malayalam debut of the production house Junglee Pictures which had earlier backed Alia Bhatt's Raazi and Kriti Sanon's Bareilly Ki Barfi, among several others.
Anil Johnson is the composer of Ronth, while Praveen Mangalath has been roped in as the editor.
The film's cinematography is by Manesh Madhavan, who had previously won the Kerala State Film Awards for Ela Veezha Poonchira, which was also directed by Shahi Kabir. Notably, Shahi Kabir, also won the State award for Best Debutant Director for the same film, which was released in 2022.
