While the making video and first look poster of Mammootty’s Rorschach didn’t reveal his character from the film, the latest social media post of the megastar gives us a first clear glimpse of the role he is playing as well as hinting the genre of the film.

Directed by Nissam Basheer, who had previously helmed Asif Ali’s Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha, Rorschach is touted to be a revenge psycho-thriller that has Mammootty in a role that he hasn’t essayed in recent years. The movie is scripted by Sameer Abdul, who had written Asif’s Ibilis and Adventures of Omanakuttan.

Mammootty shared his character poster from the film, the first time without the Rorschach mask. The tone of the movie seems to be dark in line with its genre. The audience will get a better idea when the team will reveal its trailer on September 7, on Mammootty’s birthday. The release date will also be officially announced along with the trailer.

Currently, it’s rumoured that the movie will hit theatres on September 29 as a pooja release. This will mean that it will set up a clash with Mohanlal’s Monster, Suresh Gopi’s Mei Hoom Moosa and Nivin Pauly’s Saturday Night. Considering it’s a festive season, the films are expected to have a longer run than usual.

Also starring Sharafudheen, Grace Antony, Jagadeesh, Bindhu Panicker and Kottayam Nazir, Rorschach marks the second production of Mammootty’s new banner Mammootty Kampany, which has also backed Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam. An update on the latter is also expected on September 7.

The megastar is currently shooting for B Unnikrishnan’s thriller Christopher, which is scripted by Udaykrishna. The movie, which also has Amala Paul, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Sneha, has the actor playing a cop. Mammootty has also signed Rob Raj Varghese’s directorial debut.
