Following the announcement of Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2, writer K V Vijayendra Prasad has confirmed scripting for Rowdy Rathore sequel too. Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha will be continuing as the leads, according to reports.

Vijayendra Prasad has stated that Sanjay Leela Bhansali approached him for the sequel, as quoted by ETimes. The writer who has penned the original in Telugu Vikramarkudu, is also planning to finish the script shortly. The Rowdy Rathore sequel will however, be made only in Hindi.

The 2012 Prabhu Deva directorial Rowdy Rathore is an action comedy about a brave police officer dying at the den of some corrupted politicians. Things take a twist when the department replaces him with a thief who looks like the officer. The movie was backed by Bhansali and Ronnie Screwvala under the production banner of UTV Motion Pictures and Bhansali Productions.

It is reported that the sequel won’t be resuming from where the prequel left off. It will be a standalone sequel following a fresh storyline, which should be under production by the later half of 2022.

Meanwhile, in an earlier interview with Pinkvilla, Vijayendra Prasad had revealed about scripting a sequel for Bajrangi Bhaijaan, the hit Salman Khan starrer. He also added that he was looking for a proper team to carry it forward.

Actor Salman had also talked about the same in a recent event of the upcoming S S Rajamouli directorial RRR. He had expressed his excitement on working with Rajamouli and his father as well, and had confirmed about the sequel. Although director Kabir Khan who helmed the original had not given any thumbs up yet.
