RRR Day 1 Box Office Collection: Jr NTR, Ram Charan's period drama is on a record-smashing spree in the Telugu states

RRR, the period drama starring Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn, has opened to a terrific response from crowds and critics alike. SS Rajamouli's brainchild is proving its worth at the box office and is breaking one record after the other in most regions it has released. If it was the first Indian film to cross the $5 million mark at the USA box office, the collections back home in the Telugu states are no less staggering.

As per a report by Telugu360 and T2BLive, RRR's collections in the Telangana (Nizam) is the best ever for a Telugu film. The film's share on the opening day in Nizam area is an earth-shattering Rs 23.3 crores, almost doubling the collections registered by Bheemla Nayak on the first day (Rs 11.85 crore), which had held the record for the best figures in the region previously. Trade pundits predict that this record has very little chance of being broken in the near future.  

Similarly in the Uttarandhra region in AP, RRR has collected over 7 crore on the first day, breaking the record that was held by Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy (Rs 4.6 crore). In the West Godavari area, the film has fallen marginally short of the Baahubali 2 record (6.08 crore) and managed to earn Rs 5.93 crore on the first day. It's a similar situation in East Godavari too, where the film earned Rs 5.35 crore, falling behind the Baahubali 2 record by around Rs 50 lakhs. 

In Guntur and ceeded regions, RRR has had a share of over Rs 7 crore (also breaking Baahubali 2 record of Rs 6.18 crore) and Rs 12 crore respectively. Another portal has also predicted that RRR's day 1 share in the AP and Telangana states will be over Rs 70 crore on the whole, which is also an all-time record. And the film hasn't even completed its first weekend at the box office. Expect RRR to be a gamechanger in Indian cinema in terms of box office business, not only in Telugu states, but all across the globe. It takes an SS Rajamouli to create an all-time record and it's no surprising that only his directorial can beat the records held by his previous films.
