SS Rajamouli’s upcoming highly anticipated action-drama film RRR has been the talk of the town ever since the movie was announced. With a star-studded cast featuring Ajay Devgn, Jr NTR, Ram Charan and Alia Bhatt, the film has become a huge cause for speculation since audiences have been wondering whether RRR will be released on OTTs. Pen Studios has now brought clarity to this question by announcing that the film will be digitally released on Netflix and ZEE5 post its theatrical run.
Pen Studios has signed the biggest deal in the Indian film industry with Netflix and ZEE5. The much awaited film, which has incurred a huge cost in production, has made history by signing the deal with the two streaming giants. Indian film industries are yet to witness a collaboration this big.
In just one go, Pen has ensured 10 languages in which the film will be released. RRR’s Hindi, English, Portuguese, Korean, Turkish, and Spanish dubs will stream on Netflix, whereas the film’s Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada versions will stream on ZEE5. Reports stating that the film had been sold to ZEE5 at a whopping price had resurfaced earlier this week and this deal has confirmed the rumours.
RRR is a fictionalized account of the struggle of Indian freedom fighters against the British Raj and the Nizam of Hyderabad. This SS Rajamouli directorial is expected to hit OTT platforms 70 to 100 days after its theatrical run.
With Pen Studios acting as the film’s distributors, RRR is expected to release in October this year.
