RRR, the historical fiction drama based on the lives of revolutionary leaders Alluri Seetharamaraju and Komaram Bheem, directed by SS Rajamouli and starring Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran in lead roles, is just a couple of months away from release (on January 7,2022). The film is made on a budget of Rs 400 crore. Many wonder if it's even a practical investment for the post COVID-19 era we live in, especially that not every second project can turn out to be as commercially successful as the Baahubali franchise. All said and done, the buzz for RRR still is undeniably huge.
A brief sneak peek into RRR was released earlier today. More than anything else, it throws a glimpse of the scale at which it is made. Of course, it looks like a visual spectacle featuring a sharp-looking Ram Charan in a cop avatar, Ajay Devgn at his intense best in a leader-like figure, Jr NTR appearing fiercer than ever before in a rustic look and with Alia Bhatt, as radiant as ever with her terrific screen presence. The drama associated with the pre-independence era is certain to trigger many emotions among viewers and SS Rajamouli has packed a punch yet again.
RRR looks like an honest effort to transport viewers into a different world, another timeline where emotions reined high though the Baahubali-hangover seems inevitable, especially with the way it has been visually mounted. SS Rajamouli always preserves his directorial brilliance for his action episodes and the glimpse has certainly set the bar high. MM Keeravaani's music is the perfect icing on the cake.
It's always interesting to know what shaped the ideologies and the path of leaders like Seetharamaraju and Komaram Bheem in history. What makes these figures relevant many decades after their death? It's always challenge to give a fictional spin to the lives of real-life characters, especially with the cinematic liberties that one may take during a phase that hasn't been documented. This isn't SS Rajamouli's first challenge and definitely not the last one either and not many need an introduction to his track record. Senthil Kumar has cranked the camera for RRR,produced by DVV Danayya under DVV Entertainments.
