Right in his debut film Chirutha, directed by Puri Jagannath, Ram Charan had proved that he was star material who could handle dance, action, emotion with relative ease and confidence. When one is directed by SS Rajamouli in their very second film (in the case of Ram Charan - Magadheera), an actor doesn't exactly need an acting school. After moulding himself well for Magadheera, Ram Charan grew from strength to strength as a commercially bankable actor with several successes like Racha, Naayak, Yevadu, Dhruva to name a few.
However, with Rangasthalam, Ram Charan got a gamechanger where he proved all odds wrong with a remarkable performance and that he was every bit a worthy heir to his father Chiranjeevi, as a performer. Many thought it would be tough for Ram Charan to better his performance in Rangasthalam but yet again he turned the tables with a fantastic, assured act in today's release, RRR, where he reunited with the Magadheera director SS Rajamouli again. He was cast as the legendary Telugu freedom fighter Alluri Sitaramaraju in the film.
As someone who suppresses his original intentions and conveys his emotions more through his body language than dialogues, Ram Charan brought in a lot of personality and depth to the role with his subtle mannerisms, terrific facial expressions. Ram Charan did very well to internalise the trauma and the pain within the character without showing it overtly and it shows how well he has matured as an actor these years. And of course, SS Rajamouli deserves due credit for believing that Ram Charan could pull off such a performance.
Henceforth, will RRR be referred to as the best performance of Ram Charan? Only time shall say. The film, also starring Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani and Ajay Devgn is set to open big across the globe on day one and may garner above Rs 130 crores, going by trade reports.
