RRR seems to have lived up to its hype as initial reactions suggest that the film has managed to woo both critics and fans alike. But even before its release, the film’s impact was in full display, as fans all over the country, and even the globe, clamoured for a chance to witness SS Rajamouli weave his magic on screen yet again. And the unrelenting demand for tickets also reflected in the whopping prices they went for, with tickets in some places even crossing Rs 2,000. But it seems to be a price worth paying for fans, as that did not stop the film from raking in the earnings on its first day, even overseas.

Even before its release, the film witnessed a good pre-sales performance in the US, with multiple reports saying that it had crossed the $2 million USD mark. And now, it seems that the film has taken it a step further. It went on to become the first Indian film in the US to rake in $3 million USD from US premiere shows across 981 locations. Movie distributors Sarigama Cinemas announced the news.

The film is a fictional story based on real-life Indian revolutionaries, Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raj, who fought against the British Raj during the Independence movement. Jr NTR essays the role of Bheem while Ram Charan stars as the latter. The film also features Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Samuthirakani, Alison Doody, Ray Stevenson, Olivia Morris and Shriya Saran. The film is bankrolled under the banner of DVV Entertainment. Rajamouli has written the film along with K. V. Vijayendra Prasad.
