After days of build up and a grandiose launch event, the highly anticipated second single from RRR has finally been dropped. Titled Janani, the song is referred to as the RRR Soul Anthem, one which encompasses the film’s heart and soul.
The music video opens with a note penned by the composer MM Keeravaani, who revealed that he wanted to capture the one enthralling emotion that permeated throughout the film. He calls the composition the ‘musical form’ of the film’s very heart.
As the song’s stirring melody gives way to the exceptionally sung lyrics, star Ram Charan makes an appearance on screen decked in military attire with a beaten look on his face. The rest of the video features appearances of the film’s stellar cast in various emotive sequences. Some sequences, depicting the violence that plagued the country during the pre-independence period, are hard to watch.
Viewers get to see glimpses of the characters played by Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran. Devgn and Saran’s characters are seen engaging in an intense and emotionally charged conversation as well.
Janani, called as Uyire in Tamil, is the second single from RRR after Naatu Naatu. While Naatu Naatu was nicknamed the film’s Mass Anthem, Janani is referred to as RRR’s Soul Anthem.
During the song’s launch event today in Delhi, Devgn had claimed that director SS Rajamouli had been unable to find the film’s soul until Janani happened.
RRR is slated for a theatrical release on January 7, 2022. The film will be released in multiple languages.
