Fans of actors Jr NTR, Ram Charan heaved a sigh of relief as RRR, released in theatres nearly four years after the stars commenced shooting for it. Moreover, the SS Rajamouli directorial has received largely positive reviews across the globe. Apart from the male leads, the film also featured Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Samuthirakani, Olivia Morris, Rahul Ramakrishna, Shriya Saran in key roles. It's no mean feat for a director to live upto audience's expectations after delivering an action series like Baahubali and SS Rajamouli has done the unthinkable.

Mythological parallels have been a constant feature in most Rajamouli films and RRR is no exception to it. There are constant references to Alluri Sitaramaraju as Lord Ram in the film and several motifs in the backdrop in the scenes between Alia Bhatt, Jr NTR and the pre-climax sequence suggests the same. Interestingly, Alluri Sitaramaraju's love interest is called Sita in RRR. Both Ram and Sita don't meet each other for nearly four years in the film as the former pursues a career as a police officer working for the British.

As a token of rememberance, Ram gives a part of his locket to Sita as a memory and even tells that they can't be separated, come what may. When Sita comes in search of Ram in North India later, it's the same locket that helps her reunite with him, with the help of Bheem. Bheem even tells that he wants to take the responsibility of helping Ram and Sita meet again. One can view Bheem as a modern-day Hanuman in the tale.

Interestingly, in Ramayana, when Hanuman meets Sita, he hands over a ring to claim that he was indeed sent by Rama to her. In RRR, Rajamouli reverses the idea, where Sita's locket is a tool for Bheem to meet Ram again and bury the hatchet. Bheem is a messenger between Ram and Sita a.l.a Hanuman. In the climax too, where Alluri is seen in the saffron-clad avatar, the bow and arrows available in a Ram temple are showcased as a supernatural gesture. All of this is done subtly and the references aren't dumped on audiences for the sake of it. It just adds another layer to the storytelling.

RRR released in five languages today including Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada. The film has music by MM Keeravani, cinematography by Senthil Kumar and production design by Sabu Cyril.
