Telugu superstar Ram Charan continues to promote his latest blockbuster RRR as the film is nominated for an Oscar award. On Tuesday morning, he appeared on the popular morning show to talk about his new-found global fame, SS Rajamouli's celebrity, RRR's phenomenal success, and talents in Indian cinema.

Charan described Rajamouli heaped praises on Rajamouli as he talked about RRR, which found a global success after it was made available for streaming on Netflix.

"It's a movie about great friendship, great brotherhood, camaraderie, and the relationship between these two characters (Raju and Bheem). And I think it's one of the finest writings of my director Rajamouli. And he is known as the Steven Spielberg of India. I hope he's gonna make his way to the global cinema very soon," Charan said.

Charan said that all the laurels that the Naatu Naatu from RRR has managed to garner so were a long-overdue global recognition of Indian filmmaking talents.

"I loved all their songs Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Top Gun Maverick songs. But, it's a tribute to Indian cinema. It's the first time in 85-plus years of Indian cinema, the Academy has recognised, the Golden Globes has recognised and multiple other critic awards. It's not just RRR, It's Indian cinema and Indian technicians are being honoured," he added.

Charan said that the unprecedented popularity that RRR has received with the western audience was not expected. And the team was not ready for what followed after the film's Netflix debut. Since RRR went global, the main cast and crew have been busy touring around the world and promoting the film. And their commitments to RRR are keeping them on their toes and away from their next projects.

"Just when we thought in India, we have achieved everything and moved to the next project, it just showed us that it's just the beginning, Charan said.

RRR collected over Rs 1000 crore from its initial theatrical release worldwide. And Rajamouli was all set to begin the production work on his next film with Mahesh Babu. It has now been delayed as he's now involved in the film's Oscar campaign.

Charan, meanwhile, is shooting for director Shankar's untitled movie. And he and his wife Upasana Kamineni are expecting their first child.
