Rudra: Disney+ Hotstar reveals Ajay Devgn and Rashii Khanna's digital avatars

Disney+ Hotstar and Hungama Digital’s Web3 venture - Hefty Entertainment launched the digital avatars of Rudra stars Ajay Devgn and Rashii Khanna today. 

This is the newest addition to the growing Bollywood presence in the metaverse after Akshay Kumar-Tiger Shroff film BadeMiyan ChoteMiyan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan among others. 

"Viewers will be able to engage with the universe of Rudra by choosing a virtual avatar for themselves and witness the trailer, songs, behind-the-scenes videos etc in virtual reality. Carving out a virtual space for viewers with an immersive and real-life virtual experience, the initiative aims to engage with audiences and fans in a revolutionary move to go beyond the streaming universe," reads the press release.

Previously the makers had announced that Rudra would be entering the metaverse with Devgn saying that he always wanted an opportunity to be closer to his fans. The actor said that this opportunity to elevate the experience of Rudra through virtual reality is 'close to his heart.' 

“From a digital series debut to my very first venture into the metaverse, this has been an incredible journey for me,” he had said. This would make the series one of the first homegrown shows to enter into the metaverse.

Rajesh Mapuskar has helmed the series, an Indian adaptation of the BBC detective drama Luther with Idris Elba. Rudra also stars Esha Deol, Atul Kulkarni, Ashwini Kalsekar, Tarun Gahlot, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Satyadeep Misra in pivotal roles.

Rudra began streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from March 4 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam and Bengali.
