Rudra: The Edge of Darkness: Ajay Devgn admits he has played several cop roles, but says each one is different

Ajay Devgn's OTT debut show, Rudra: The Edge of Darkness became the most viewed show on Disney+ Hotstar. The actor plays the role of a cop in the web series, which tells the emotional journey of the investigative officers. Devgn plays the role of a no-nonsense cop with shades of grey in the show.

Devgn has earlier played the roles of a cop in films Singham and Gangajal. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Ajay admitted that he has played several cop roles but he says he makes sure that each character is different from one another. He said that the cop in Singham is different from the one in Gangajal. "Singham is Singham. The cop in Gangajal was sober, in control and believed in anti-violence," he told the portal adding that Rudra is a 'thinking cop with a criminal mind'. "Little grey, though he doesn’t believe in physical action. All cops that I played are different from each other.”

The actor also revealed that he has been offered several cop roles and he has rejected like 'hundreds of them'. He further talked about taking a risk and stepping into the OTT space as he believes one must move ahead with times. "I work on instincts and with changing times, the audience is evolving. They are going to cinema halls and watching content on OTT. You have to show your talent on all platforms,” he added. 

Devgn confirmed that Rudra has been planned for three seasons and that if the audience wants to see more of him in the Rudra avatar, they will take the story ahead.

Currently, the actor is busy gearing up for the release of his directorial, Runway 34, which also features Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh, Angira Dhar and Aakanksha Singh.
