Rukmini Vasanth opposite Sriimurali in Dr Suri’s Bagheera?

Nearly two years ago, on Kannada cinema’s Roaring Star Sriimurali’s birthday, Hombale Films, the production house behind the KGF saga, announced a film with the actor. What was special about this collaboration was that it reunited KGF director Prashant Neel with Sriimurali. Prashant, who made his directorial debut with Ugramm, which had Sriimurali in the lead and gave the actor’s career a renewed boost, wrote another story, which Dr Suri will direct for Hombale Films. Called Bagheera, the film was officially launched in May this year and has Sriimurali in the role of a cop. Bagheera has a tagline that reads, “When Society turns into a Jungle And Only One Predator Roars for Justice”. When the first look of the film was revealed in December 2020, Prashant had posted, “SRIMURALIII as #Bagheera. Penned a story of valor, for my first true Mass Hero.”

Since the muhurtha, there has been no update on Bagheera, but today, there were whispers that the team has officially got its leading lady on board, although an official announcement is yet to be made. Sriimurali, we hear, will be paired with Rukmini Vasanth in Bagheera. Rukmini, who made her big-screen debut with MG Srinivas’ Birbal-Finding Vajramuni, and is currently working on Hemanth M Rao’s Sapta Sagaradaache Ello opposite Rakshit Shetty and Preetham Gubbi’s Baana Dariyalli with Ganesh, is onboard Bagheera. A leaked poster welcoming the actress to the team of the Dr Suri-Sriimurali film has been circulating online.

Sriimurali, who was last seen in Madhagaja, was expected to reunite with Prashant, but with the latter’s schedule chock-a-block with films like Salaar, KGF: Chapter 3 and an untitled film with NTR Jr, getting him to direct Bagheera would have been impossible and that’s why Dr Suri stepped in to handle the responsibility. Known to be Rocking Star Yash’s right-hand man, Dr Suri made the film Lucky many years ago.
