Rumi trailer review: Chanchal Chowdhury plays a blind detective with razor-sharp intuition

Chanchal Chowdhury is all set to be back in Hoichoi this April with Vicky Zahed’s thriller Rumi. Along with the actor, the show also features Reekita Nondine Shimu, Abdun Noor Shajal, Afia Tabassum, Shahadat Hossain, Deepa Khandakar, and others. Rumi will be dropped on April 10. It is a part of the six shows from Hoichoi Bangladesh’s recent slate announcement that took place last week.

Rumi’s trailer was dropped recently and it looks like a promising thriller. Rumi, played by Chanchal, – an established CID officer, loses his eyesight accidentally. It is because of his traumatic past and professional life, that he starts succumbing to strange dreams. He dreams about real people. In fact, these dreams often lead him to solve cases. It is his intuition that helps him in his detection, despite his blindness. 

Meanwhile, there are characters with complex shades. The trailer hints at substance abuse and professional rivalry.  

The two-and-a-half-minute-long trailer is captivating and promising. It not only gives the viewers a hint of the show but also promises to present a pacy thriller. It is dotted with smart dialogues and visual presentations. A blind detective is not a unique concept by any means. However, Rumi seems to be interesting in its own way.  

Chanchal became a household name in West Bengal with his outstanding performance in Syed Ahmed Shawki’s Karagar which was dropped on Hoichoi in 2022, August. Earlier, he worked with Goutam Ghose and on other projects. However, it was Karagar that gave him massive popularity, and ever since he has been one of the most talked about actors in Bengal. In May, Chanchal’s film, Srijit Mukherji’s Padatik will be released. The film is Srijit’s tribute to Mrinal Sen on his birth centenary and Chanchal will be seen playing the director.
