Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 16 has been topping the TRP charts for a while now. The show has always been a hit which is how it even reached its 16th season. Reports now suggest that this show earns as much as Rs. 200 crores of revenue through ads.

Bigg Boss 16 was compared to Karan Johar’s Bigg Boss OTT’s earnings. Koimoi reported that while Bigg Boss OTT was earning Rs. 120-150 crores, Bigg Boss 16 earns somewhere between Rs. 180-200 crores in advertising revenue.

This does not come as a huge surprise since Bigg Boss is one of the longest running shows on TV. The OTT version of this reality show was introduced recently and if that itself could bring in the kind of revenue it did, Bigg Boss 16 was bound to earn more.

If reports are to further be believed, the popularity of the show has gone up 40-41%, taking Bigg Boss to a whole new level. Bigg Boss 16 has anyway been a hot property for sponsors and so, the advertising revenue is but expected.

The concept of Bigg Boss 16 has changed slightly. The show does not have a Weekend Ka Vaar with Salman Khan this time – well, not always. This time, Salman has frequented his show on Fridays and Saturdays. Thus, through season 16, the concept of Shukravaar Ka Vaar and Shanivaar Ka Vaar was introduced. Very rarely, there would be a Ravivaar Ka Vaar with Salman Khan.

The reality show also has a new addition. Actor Shekhar Suman has a segment on the show this season. He brings his Bigg Bulletin and entertains the contestants, while also warning them about how they are being viewed outside the house.

Salman Khan has hosted Bigg Boss for 12 consecutive years. He joined the show from season six. He had hosted season 4 as well. Salman had co-hosted season 5 with Sanjay Dutt and then, he became the permanent show of the host. Before Salman, Arshad Warsi (season 1), Shilpa Shetty (also a contestant on UK’s Big Brother, which inspired Bigg Boss – season 2) and Amitabh Bachchan (season 3) hosted the show. Big B was already successfully hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati on another channel at that point which is why Salman was brought in as the host for Bigg Boss since season 4. Since then, he has been unstoppable.
