Runway 34: Rakul Preet Singh says playing a pilot in Ajay Devgn-Amitabh Bachchan’s film was an ‘amazing’ experience

In the aviation thriller Runway 34, Rakul Preet Singh plays the role of a co-pilot to Ajay Devgn's character. The actress plays a significant part in the film and is garnering attention even before its release. Rakul Preet opened up about her preparation for the character of a pilot in the film.

In conversation with news agency ANI, the actress said that she had not read a screenplay as great as Runway 34’s in a long time, so she leaped at the chance and accepted the part.

Calling her experience essaying the role of a pilot ‘incredible’, the actress said that she enjoys her profession as it lets her play and learn from different characters while also experiencing each character's function in a unique way.

She went on to detail her training session in the cockpit, where they had to practise for two to three days under the supervision of a captain.

The captain was also there on the sets when they were filming to ensure that they used the correct button and vocabulary to make it appear genuine. The captain also explained how a whole panel works.

Rakul went on to say, "And when you put on a uniform, there is an immediate feeling of respect that comes with it - the way you move, talk, use your language, and react is completely different from what a girl next door would do. This was the extent of my preparation for this role."

Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, and Boman Irani also feature in 'Runway 34.'

The upcoming film is Devgn’s third directorial, after U Me Aur Hum (2008) and Shivaay (2016). The film, which he also produced, is set to open in theatres on April 29, 2022, around Eid.
