Runway 34: Watch Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh try to beat each other at ‘flight puns’

Runway 34 is counting down the days to its release. Touted to be an aviation thriller, the film marks Ajay Devgn’s third directorial venture and features a stellar cast, including him, Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh. As part of the film’s promotions, the star shared a delightful video in which he is seen exchanging flight puns with his co-star Rakul Preet.

Devgn starts off the exchange, posing the question ‘where do pilots keep their clothes?’ When Singh shakes her head not knowing the answer, Devgn quips ‘in the hangar’. Not to be outdone, Singh fires off a slew of jokes herself, one that even mocks Devgn’s surname. “How did the pilot hijack the plane?,” she asks. When she says ‘with a Dev-gun’, her co-star remarks how bad a pun that was, with Singh vehemently disagreeing.

Even the caption was not spared of a pun. “When you have two pilots in a room, you know the jokes will land!,” reads a part of the caption.

The upcoming film marks Devgn and Singh’s most recent collaboration. The duo had also starred together in the 2019 film, De De Pyaar De, directed by Luv Ranjan, which is available to stream on Disney+Hotstar.

The film also stars Bachchan in a prominent role, along with Aakanksha Singh, Boman Irani, and Youtube personality Carry Minati. The upcoming film marks Devgn’s third directorial, after U Me Aur Hum (2008) and Shivaay (2016).

Initially titled Mayday, the film is inspired by true events and tells the story of a pilot who is faced with a tumultuous situation while piloting a passenger airline. In addition to directing and starring, Devgn is also a producer on the film.The aviation thriller was produced under the banners of Ajay Devgn Films and Panorama Studios.

Runway 34 will be released in theatres on April 29, 2022.
