Free Guy, starring Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer, Taika Waititi, Joe Keery, Utkarsh Ambudkar among a star-packed cast, has been directed by Shawn Levy. The trailer of the film had first dropped in late 2019, bringing with it a palpable excitement for fans where everyone's favourite anti-hero Deadpool has become a hero in a video game. An interesting premise coupled with fantastic actors and a jaw-dropping trailer, the movie has all the ingredients for instant phenomena.

Unfortunately, due to the raging pandemic, the release of the film had to be postponed a couple of times since it couldn't have a theatrical release, which it rightly deserves. The movie explores Ryan as a bank teller named Guy who becomes aware of his living situation - being a background character in a video game - and realises the only life he knows is not real. In a race against time, he decides to save the game by being a ‘great guy’, helping the citizens before the developers shut it down for good with a little help from the badass Molotov Girl, played by Jodie Comer.

The movie features some famous video game characters, making their cameo appearances.

Finally, as the situation seems to be improving, a new release date has been announced for the movie, which will now hit the theatres on August 13, 2021. The movie will also be coming to Disney+ Hotstar, forty five days after its theatrical release.

The makers also dropped a fresh trailer and a new poster of the film. Watch it here-

It looks like a healthy mix of comedy and action with fabulous CGI. Deadpool and Villanelle seem like the perfect on screen duo and we can’t wait to see them on the big screen.
