Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell begin filming for Spirited

Comedy powerhouses Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell have joined hands for their latest project, Spirited. Based on Charles Dickens’s classic story, A Christmas Carol, which has had many remakes over the years, the musical comedy will be released on Apple TV. No release date has been set yet for the film. 

Ryan Reynolds shared a picture from the set, announcing the commencement of filming with a cheeky caption, making a quip at Apple, where he is seen wearing the famous Apple Airpods. 

“Day 1 shooting with one of my comedy idols, Will Ferrell. You’d barely notice this was an @Apple movie!” Reynolds captioned the behind the scenes snap. “Also iOS 14.6 will begin installing in 7 seconds…”, he added.

Octavia Spencer and Sunita Mani of GLOW’s fame have also joined the cast. Octavia Spencer is set to play sidekick to Reynold’s character.  

The Sean Anders directorial has been co written by him and John Morris who previously worked on Daddy’s Home 1 and 2 (also starring Ferrell), Instant Family and Horrible Bosses 2.   

Ryan Reynolds was last seen in The Hitman’s Bodyguard, alongside Salma Hayek and Samuel L Jackson, which released earlier this year. He will also be seen in the upcoming film, Free Guy with Jody Comer which was being postponed for a while due to the pandemic. 

Will Ferrell was last seen in Eurovision alongside Rachel McAdams and will be seen alongside Paul Rudd in The Shrink Next Door later this year.
