Vishnu Shankar (Pratik Gandhi) and his team's mission in the last act of Saare Jahan Se Accha is to stop Pakistan from acquiring a nuclear reactor that is being transported to the port of Gadani from France's Horizon General Nucleaire (HGN).
The events of 1972 take place against the backdrop of Pakistan's nuclear weapons program, which was launched by then-Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (Hemant Kher) to compete with India and other Asian countries. He sought international funds, enlisted the help of renowned nuclear experts, and eventually received financial assistance from Libya. The plan called for Oceanic Shipments to bring a nuclear reactor from France to Pakistan on May 15. The plan was for the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, under the leadership of Murtaza (Sunny Hinduja), to collect the dismantled parts from the ISI. Chief Kao assigned Vishnu to intercept and destroy the shipment.
Vishnu put together a squad consisting of Yasir (Amit Jha), Raghuveer (a sniper), Uday (an expert in explosives), and Sukhbir (Suhail Nayyar), a member of the RAW who was posing as a Pakistani stock exchange agent. The plan involved locating and attacking the trucks that were leaving Gadani with the reactor parts. But the operation was supposed to be complicated because the ISI was supposed to deploy decoy trucks.

The team discovered an incomplete subterranean passageway leading to the harbour the day before the mission. They intended to derail the vehicle by loading it with explosives. A scuffle broke out when the ISI dispatched soldiers to check suspicious activity. Given the compromised tunnel plan, Vishnu gave the go-ahead for a riskier alternative: sneaking into the port while pretending to be Pakistani soldiers to demolish the reactor on board the ship.
To detonate explosives on the three shipments identified with radioactive symbols, Yasir, Raghuveer, and Uday climbed aboard the ship. Before the mission could be completed, they were murdered in a battle with the ISI; Ghulam, an acquaintance of Murtaza's, neutralised the explosives. Finally, Sukhbir destroyed the cargo ship and its reactor by ramming an explosive-laden speedboat into it, but he and everyone on board died in the process.
The fact that Vishnu was given a new mission along the Indo-China border after his return to India suggests that there might be a second season. The United States' lobbying and geopolitical concerns prevented India and Israel from carrying out their 1979–1983 plans to thwart Pakistan's nuclear program.
The show presents RAW as a key player in the plot to delay Pakistan's nuclear aspirations while making these events into fiction. Although it is meant to be a patriotic piece of entertainment, it deviates greatly from historical facts and presents itself as more of a dramatic tale than an accurate account of events.
