Saaree OTT release date: When and where to watch Ram Gopal Varma's creepy psychological thriller

After premiering in theaters this April, the psychological thriller film, Saaree, is now gearing up for its digital debut in June 2025. Fans of crime drama genre will be able to watch the film on both Lionsgate Play and OTTplay Premium from the same date onwards. This release marks a significant return for filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who penned the script, promising his signature style and storytelling to a wider audience.

The thriller drama, Saaree, is releasing on Lionsgate Play and OTTplay Premium on June 27, 2025. Interestingly, the film will be available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam languages for viewers to enjoy across the nation.

Directed by Girish Krishna Kamal, actors Satya Yadu and Aaradhya Devi played the lead roles as Kittu and Aaradhya, and other like Darbha Appaji Ambarisha, Kalpalatha, and Sahil Sambyal are seen in pivotal roles in the film.

What's the plot of Saaree?

What began as a carefree holiday with his friends, took a sinister turn for Kittu. Amidst the relaxing atmosphere, beautiful woman Aaradhya draped in a saree catches his attention. From that moment, she became an object of fascination for Kittu, which escalates into obsession.

His dark desire to get her anyhow begins to grow every passing moment. Kittu believes that she's destined to be with him. However, when he eventually throws his proposal to Aaradhya, he gets instantly rejected. Her refusal fuels his twisted mind, transforming his obsession into a menacing resolve.

Kittu became increasingly unhinged. The idea of leaving Aaradhya alone turns unbearable for him. Hence, Kittu makes up evil plans to get her anyway even if he has to commit a crime.

Ram Gopal Varma spills Saaree is inspired from real events

Back in February, Ram Gopal Varma had a chat with Suman TV, and shared numerous insights about his latest release, Saaree. The filmmaker, who wrote the script and presented the film, stated that the story of the thriller drama is inspired for real events.

Varma spilled the beans that the story of Saaree is based on an incident that took place in Rajahmundry a few years ago. Due to his busy schedule, Varma entrusted the film’s direction to Kamal.

Varma also acknowledged that the title of the film, Saaree, might not seem directly related to the genre, but explained that both are amazingly connected. Before the release, he shared that the entire story revolves around a saaree. In a way, Aaradhya Devi's role is the most crucial in the film.
