Sabyasachi Chowdhury's Ramprasad to end on Star Jalsha, Ramkrishna to take its place

Ramprasad – the sole devotional serial of Star Jalsha – may go off the air soon. The director of the show was changed a few days back. Now, the serial is going to end this week. The serial streams on Disney+ Hotstar.

Ramprasad started in April 2023 – at a time when Sabyasachi was mourning his girlfriend Aindrila Sharma’s untimely death. He made a comeback with this project. According to a report on Hindustan Times Bangla, “The channel and the production house, Surinder Films, is ending Ramprasad and bringing a new devotional mega serial.” The slot will not change but the story will change.

According to the report, Jalsha will now portray the life of Ramakrishna Paramhansa. The casting has been finalized and the promo has been shot already. The promo will be on air in a couple of days. The serial will start from Ramakrishna’s childhood days. Sources say that Riju Biswas will play Ramakrishna’s father Khudiram Chatterjee. This is his comeback to Star Jalsha after Godhuli Alap. However, it is an extended cameo since the story centers around Ramakrishna. 

Ramprasad’s slot changed last year’s September and came to the 5.30 pm slot to give place to the serial Tomader Rani at 6 pm. When the media spoke to Payel Dey – a key character in Ramprasad, to know the details, she said that neither the channel nor the production house told her anything regarding this and hence she could not comment on anything. 

Tiyasa Lepcha entered the serial as Rani Bhabani a few months back to increase Ramprasad’s TRP. She was supposed to stay for only a handful of episodes, but the makers lengthened her track. However, it was not easy to compete with Didi Number 1. Hence the serial will have to end. The serial’s cast and crew are sad with this development. It is heard that Ramakrishna’s shooting will take place in Ramprasad’s set. According to reports, Ramakrishna’s story will start on April 22. The last episode of Ramprasad will show that the story moves forward a hundred years and Ramakrishna’s story will start from there.
