Navdeep, the reality show host for aha’s cricket-centric OTT original DugOut, turned presenter for the film. When the makers of Sagileti Katha were wrapping up post-production at Navdeep’s startup C Space, they’d arranged a special screening for the actor too. The latter was surprised by what the team managed amidst their constraints, comparing the film to Care of Kancharapalem, Balagam.

The story takes off when Kumar and his mother Suramma return to their hometown in Rayalaseema. Even before he comes to terms with the death of his grandma, Kumar falls for Krishna, a local doctor’s daughter. Later, a villager Rosham’s repeated attempts to eat chicken are foiled and soon, village heads organise a jatara to please their deity. Where’s the tale headed?

The film released in theatres in Telugu states early October and earned generally positive reviews from the media. OTTplay.com's critic called Sagileti Katha a pathbreaking attempt at absurdist comedy in a Rayalaseema backdrop. Praising debutant Rajasekhar Sudmoon’s writing, he lauded its technical finesse and the sparkling performances.
