Sai Dhanshika, who shot to fame in Tamil cinema with films like Kabali, Solo, Laabam and Paradesi, is set to make her Telugu debut. She is headlining a film titled Shikaaru, an entertainer directed by Hari Kolagani, which is gearing up for a theatrical release this weekend. Shikaru is produced by PSR Kumar (Babji) under Sri Sai Lakshmi Creations.

Tej Kurapati, Abhinav Medisetti, KV Dheeraj, Navakanth, Chammak Chandra and others too play important roles in the film presented by Nageswari (Padma). The caption suggests this is ‘an unlimited fun ride’. The team recently went on a road trip from Vizag to Nellore to promote the film and were well-received by audiences of all age groups.

Shekar Chandra has composed the music for the film and the makers are happy with the responses for the songs. The cast and crew of the film came together for a press meet on Sunday. Sai Dhanshika shared that it was Bekkem Venugopal who helped her come on board for Shikaru and supported the director Hari’s decision to cast her.

“I was initially sceptical about how would Telugu audiences receive a Tamil-speaking girl here but such fears vanished as we commenced shoot. The director gave me a wonderful role and the producer took good care of us during the shoot. I had a gala time during the road trip and I’m happy that Shekar Chandra’s music is being received well,” Dhanshika said.

Director Hari Kolagani shared that he considered Shyam Prasad Reddy, Suresh Babu as his gurus in the industry and expressed his happiness about the latter distributing Shikaaru as well. “The film is an out and out mass entertainer loaded with a lot of humour. My strength is my technical team. Shikaaru has done good pre-release business and I’m confident of its result.”

Producer Babji added that comedy is the lifeline of any film and there’s no purpose if it doesn’t entertain crowds. Despite having many scripts, I decided to make Shikaaru because of the novel plot, he mentioned. “Sai Dhanshika was immensely supportive during the shoot. The technical team has done a commendable job and I’m sure the film will draw crowds to theatres on July 1.”
