Many years ago, when Sai Pallavi won an award for her role in the Malayalam film Premam, she had run into Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar at the event. Not only did Puneeth praise her work, but he also said that he was looking forward to collaborating with her on a film.
This is something that the actress revealed recently during an interview with a news portal, for the promotions of her upcoming release Gargi in Karnataka, in response to a question if she has any friends in the Kannada film industry. “The first person that I met from Sandalwood was Puneeth sir. I had run into him at an awards ceremony, back when I was still a newcomer and was receiving an award for my role in the Malayalam film Premam. I didn’t know too many people from films back then and was walking towards the venue, when Puneeth sir stopped me and said that he really loved my work and that he can’t wait for us to work together on a film,” said Sai Pallavi.
The actress said that she has thought about how humble he was as a person. As a superstar, he did not have to walk up to a debutante and tell her about the good work done, but he felt it necessary to do that, so that newcomers feel more encouraged to do more work like this, she added. “After his demise, I felt very bad that I had not met him and told him how grateful I was about what he had told me,” she said.
Over the years, Sai Pallavi’s name has come up in casting rumours several time, including, more recently for award-winning director Mansore’s next, 19.20.21. The actress is yet to be a part of a straight Kannada film and even though Gargi is getting a Kannada version that she has dubbed for, she has been quoted as saying that she is looking forward to working on a Sandalwood project.
