Saiju Kurup’s web series Jai Mahendran to release on THIS date? When and where to watch the political drama

Another Malayalam web series is on its way to the digital space soon. Saiju Kurup-starrer political drama Jai Mahendran will be streaming on SonyLiv on February 9.

The web series is directed by Srikanth Mohan. In a social media post, the makers stated that more information about this web series will be revealed soon.

Keedam and Kho-Kho fame Rahul Riji Nair has penned the screenplay for Jai Mahendran. Rahul, who made his directorial debut with Kerala State Film Award winner Ottamuri Velicham in 2017, produced Kerala Crime Files - Shiju, Parayil Veedu, Neendakara, which is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

Sources claim that Jai Mahendra narrates the tale of Mahendran, a cunning officer who uses powerplay and his connections within the system to accomplish goals. However, his freedom at work is restricted, and his beliefs are questioned when he succumbs to the same powerplay.

In an attempt to save his job and repair his reputation, he plans to subvert an entire system to his advantage. The main question of the web series is whether Mahendran can pull off his elaborate plan.

Suhasini, Suresh Krishna, Miya, Balachandran Chullikad, Maniyanpilla Raju, Vishnu Govindan, Sidhartha Siva, Rahul Riji Nair, Appunni Sasi, Zhins Shan, and Renjit Shekhar are playing prominent roles in this political drama.

The first poster of Jai Mahendran was unveiled by Saiju Kurup and the makers on social media in April last year. “@sonylivindia is known for supporting superb contents, which also includes my movie Antakshari, made by @vipindashb …thanking @sonylivindia for the support extended,” he wrote.

Other Malayalam web series

Malayalam web series such as Kerala Crime Files - Shiju, Parayil Veedu, Neendakara and Masterpeace released in 2023. However, the industry will see a couple of direct-OTT releases this year, beginning with Perilloor Premier League, which began streaming on Disney+ Hotstar on January 5. The comedy web series features Nikhila Vimal, Vijayaraghavan, Sunny Wayne, Ashokan, and Aju Varghese in lead roles.
