RDX, an action entertainer starring Shane Nigam, Antony Varghese, and Neeraj Madhav, released in theatres on August 25 and has been receiving positive reviews. The film, which had mostly youngsters behind and in front of the camera, is being termed an Onam winner, considering that it is doing better than the other two festival releases: Dulquer Salmaan's King of Kotha and Nivin Pauly's Ramchandra Boss & Co.
Amid all the praise comes one criticism. Prabhuvinte Makkal director Sajeevan Anthikad has slammed the film in his latest Facebook post for showing colony dwellers in a poor light. Calling RDX "an average experience", Sajeevan said that the film fails to evoke any goosebumps.
He also wrote that RDX brackets people living in colonies and slums as criminals and religious people as good people. Saying that such things were common 10–20 years ago, Sajeevan questioned why the makers of RDX have done this in 2023.
Slamming the makers further, he added that such portrayals may not have been intentional but could have been shown in the film due to the makers' lack of political and social understanding. The director wrote that such portrayals are similar to casting black people as criminals and Muslims as terrorists in Hollywood movies. He then requested that young filmmakers pay attention to these social factors and be more responsible while making a film.

RDX is currently playing to packed theatres, attracting audiences with its exhilarating action sequences. It has been receiving praise from people from other film industries as well, with actor-filmmaker-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin recently calling the film "the best martial arts film in India".
Starring Antony Varghese, Neeraj Madhav, and Shane Nigam, the stunts in the film are different from what people are used to seeing in Malayalam films. The action sequences have been choreographed by Anbariv, known for films like Vikram, KGF, and Kaithi
