After staying away from the media and public eye for a long time, filmmaker Sajid Khan was seen making an appearance in Bigg Boss 16. His life turned upside down after he was accused of sexual harassment by multiple women during the MeToo movement in 2018. Soon after the allegations were made public, he lost out on his work. In 2018, he was shooting for Akshay Kumar's Housefull 4 but was replaced by Farhad Samji as the director. Now years later, Khan has broken the silence on the same in an interview. He even admitted that he contemplated suicide due to MeToo allegations. Read on...
In a recent chat with HT City, Sajid Khan, brother of choreographer-director Farah Khan said that he has been out of work due to the entire Me Too episode. He even revealed that he sold his house and moved to a rented flat due to no earnings. Sajid said, "I thought of ending my life many times in the last 6 years. It’s been extremely bad, in the sense that I’ve been out of work, despite getting a clearance from the Indian Film and Television Directors Association (IFTDA). I’m trying to get back on my feet. I had to sell my house and move to a rented flat because of no earnings."
Sajid also recalled getting replaced by Farhad Samji as the director for Sajid Nadiadwala's Housefull 4. He said, "I left Housefull 4 because I didn’t want the dates to get shuffled. The producer, Sajid Nadiadwala, had put up a big set with 10–15 busy actors. Changing dates would’ve disrupted the film for years. Mine was a trial by media, very one-sided. What does a man work for? Respect. When that’s taken away, your self-respect comes into doubt." Further, he said he believed that offense was the best defense and didn't realize that his 'words would make him pay such a huge price'.
During the interview, Sajid shared that he concealed the truth for 10 days to protect his mom's health. He said that he asked Farah to hide the newspapers from her as he was worried their mom would have a heart attack. The Heyy Baby director added, "I’ve never, and will never, say anything against any woman. But yes, the last six years have been a period of self-assessment."
Meanwhile, Sajid Khan is set to return to the director's chair with a new project. A film titled 100% was announced in 2022 starring Nora Fatehi, Shehnaaz Gill, John Abraham, and Riteish Deshmukh. But there is no development on that front as of now.
