It emerged recently that reputed film producer/distributor Allu Aravind is in contention to acquire the theatrical distribution rights of the upcoming film Salaar. The Prabhas starrer is set to arrive in cinemas worldwide on September 28 and is billed as one of the most-anticipated releases of recent times, considering the fact it comes from the team that has previously delivered KGF 2. Prashanth Neel returns to the helm with Hombale Films producing the film which also stars Shruti Haasan, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Jagapathi Babu, Shriya Reddy and many others.
According to the latest reports, Allu Aravind is said to be actively seeking the distribution rights of the Telugu version of Salaar. Many would know that his recent collaboration with Hombale Films in the form of Kantara (Telugu) yielded great results at the box office.
While we await an official confirmation about Allu Aravind/Geetha Arts' involvement in the release of Salaar, it also comes to light that the film's distribution rights in the two Telugu states are set to be sold for a massive price. According to well-known trade analysts and industry trackers, the 'asking price' or the figure demanded by the makers of Salaar is close to the Rs. 200 crores mark in Andhra Pradesh/Telangana alone. Whether they will manage to close the deal at this price is a matter of negotiation for distributors but it seems certain that Salaar is in a lot of demand.
As per the reports, the asking price at the moment in Andhra Pradesh is Rs. 90 crores, Rs. 72 crores in Nizam/Telangana and Rs. 35 crores in the Ceded area. The total amount is Rs. 197 crores, but one reckons that the deal would be closed somewhere near the Rs. 150 or Rs. 160 crores mark.
Very recently, Adipurush distribution rights in the two Telugu states were picked up for a price of Rs. 150 crores (approx) by People Media Factory. These numbers contribute to the 'pre-release' collections of a project along with other parameters such as satellite and OTT/digital streaming rights.
Salaar teaser, which was released on July 6, has already scored more than 100 million views on YouTube (as of July 9). Despite the hysteria that surrounded the launch, many felt that the teaser failed to offer a proper glimpse of the film and the fact that Prabhas' face wasn't clearly visible in the promo has irked his fans.
