Salaar and Dunki were released a day apart. Dunki was released ahead of Salaar and now that the Prabhas starrer has started with a bang, occupancy of Dunki has fallen.
Dunki is Shah Rukh Khan's latest release, directed by the legendary Rajkumar Hirani. The family drama was released yesterday, December 21, 2023, on a large number of screens. In Telugu states too, Dunki got a very good release. As most of the multiplex chains did not showcase Salaar, Dunki had a wide release in Telugu states. But sadly, as the word of mouth about the movie is that it is dull, the occupancy fell flat by the evening itself. As per a trade expert, the occupancy of Dunki fell at least 40% in the evening shows in the Telangana region.

As Salaar was released with much hype, the occupancy of Dunki fell further. On the second day of its release, Dunki's occupancy fell by 50% in most theatres in Telugu states. Seeing this, the distributors have allotted most of the Dunki theatres to Salaar, which started with a bang. The day-one collection of Salaar in Telugu states are going to be huge. With the word of mouth quite good, big numbers are being expected by the trade experts.
Shah Rukh Khan has a massive fan following in Telugu states and his last two films, Pathaan and Jawan, did quite well and made big money at the box office. But sadly for Dunki, there has been a very low buzz, and the fan war of Dunki vs Salaar has also caused negative talk in Telugu states. More screens were given to Dunki even in Telugu states but that scenario is changing slowly with each passing day.
Taapsee Pannu played the female lead in this film, which also had Vikram Kocchar and Anil Grover in key roles. Rajkumar Hirani is known to make films with very strong emotions but sadly that was missing badly in Dunki and SRK missed an hattrick with Dunki. We need to see how much Dunki will make in the days to come, as the Salaar storm has started with a bang at the Tollywood box office. Watch this space for more updates.
