Salaar, one of the most anticipated films of the year, finally had its massive release on Friday, December 22. The Prabhas-starrer, which is helmed by KGF's Prashanth Neel, has been released in five languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Prithviraj Sukumaran plays a pivotal role in Salaar, which has now emerged as the third all-time highest Telugu grosser at the Kerala box office since it completed the first week of its release.
Salaar crosses Rs 13 crore mark at the Kerala box office
As per the latest reports from trade experts, Salaar has had a decent run at the Kerala box office within the first week of its release. The Prabhas-starrer has reportedly crossed the Rs 13 crore mark and made a total collection of Rs 13.74 crore from the state in the first 7 days of its release. However, it is not a highly impressive box office figure, considering the extraordinary performances of the Prashanth Neel directorial in the other regional and overseas box offices. The movie has thus emerged as the third all-time highest-grossing Telugu film in Kerala, after SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and RRR.
Will things improve for Salaar in Kerala?
The answer is no. The chances for Salaar to witness a box office high in Kerala are very low, as the number of screens has been reduced to a major extent in the state. As per the latest reports, most of the theatres in Kerala have been reducing the number of shows for Salaar to accommodate the increasing audience rush for Mohanlal’s recently released courtroom drama, Neru. In that case, the Prashanth Neel directorial even has the chance to end its theatrical run in Kerala by the first weekend of January 2024.
