Salaar: Makers unveil the very rugged, alluring Prithviraj Sukumaran as Vardharaja Mannaar

Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran turns 40 today and team Salaar has a special treat for his many million fans out there. To mark the special occasion, the makers of Salaar have unveiled Prithviraj’s first look in the film and also revealed the name of his character in the upcoming mega saga - the Kaduva actor will play the role of Vardharaja Mannaar in Salaar.

And just as expected, the first look of his character has charmed everyone on social media with the term ‘deadly’ being associated with it the most. Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Vardharaja Mannaar carries a beguiling effect at first glance with the team of Salaar seeming to have added many quirks to his overall physical appearance - from oxidized, bulky jewelry and body piercings to a menacing, rugged look on his face, fans have declared him to a fitting addition to Prashanth Neel’s new world.

The latest update can also be seen as the first official one made by Hombale Films with respect to Prithviraj’s inclusion in the film. The Malayalam actor has been associated with the project for quite some time but a formal confirmation about the same was yet to be made: in his previous interviews, Prithviraj has stated that although he was always on keen being a part of Salaar, a few scheduling conflicts would not allow him to give the nod to Prashanth Neel & Co. However, following a few deliberations, the actor was finally brought on board.

It isn’t clear as to the role that Prithviraj Sukumaran assumes in the film and whether, or not, he would be seen as the antagonist in Salaar. The bilingual film, shot in both Telugu and Kannada, will include an abundance of action, no doubt, and judging by Prithviraj’s look in the film, one could expect him to participate in some intense action sequences. Fans have also grown particularly curious as to how his character would fare in comparison to Prabhas’.

Speaking about Vardharaja Mannaar, writer-director Prashanth Neel shares that Prithviraj plays an 'enormous' character in the film who boasts of a magnificent presence, adding that the drama on the screen will only be intensified now. Neel also expressed the joy of working with two superstars in Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran.

As far as the release of Salaar is concerned, the film will release worldwide on September 28, 2023, in multiple languages. As one of the most anticipated releases, Salaar is being molded with great care by the makers with the plot and storyline of the film kept under the wraps - Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Easwari Rao, Sriya Reddy, and others will be seen in significant roles in the Hombale Films production.
