To be directed by Kaarthik Shankar, the film, which goes on floors on October 25, is supposed to a love story.
When Sanjana Anand broke into the filmi scene with Chemistry of Kariyappa two years ago, she was seen as the hottest newcomer on the block, considering that she had quite a few new signings thereafter. Among her much-anticipated flicks were biggies like Salaga, opposite Duniya Vijay and Shokiwala with Krishna Ajai Rao. The actress was also supposed to be a part of Nirup Bhandari’s next, Window Seat, but not much is known about the status of this project at the moment.
Amid the excitement of her first release this year, Salaga, Sanjana had another bit of good news to share. The actress took to social media to announce her entry into Telugu cinema, writing “With all your blessings, to another new beginning”, along with an image of her at the muhurtha of the film.
Sanjana is set to make her Tollywood debut with an as-yet-untitled film opposite Kiran Abbavaram of SR Kalyana Mandapam fame. A love story, the film has been written by Kaarthik Shankar, a popular social media influencer, who is also filling in as director. It will be produced by Kodi Divya Deepthi, the daughter of veteran filmmaker Kodi Ramakrishna, with music by Mani Sharma. The actress has been quoted as saying that she was glad to start her journey in Telugu cinema with a pure love story and a good team.
Although the team held the muhurtha during the auspicious festive time, they will go on floors only later this month, by October 25, with a 60-day schedule split between Hyderabad and Vishakapatnam.
Sanjana now joins the long list of Kannada actresses who have forayed into Tollywood. More recently, Rashmika Mandanna and Nabha Natesh have firmly positioned themselves in Telugu cinema, with Sreeleela set to test waters when her debut film Pelli SandaD releases this Friday. Rachita Ram is also slated to make her Telugu debut soon.
