CID Moosa is among the Malayalam cult comedy films. The slapstick comedy and hilarious performances by actors like Salim Kumar, Harisree Ashokan, Cochin Haneefa, Jagathy, and Dileep were much appreciated by audiences. Film buffs were excited after lead actor Dileep confirmed that a sequel to the film would be made.
What comes as a surprise is that Salim Kumar, who played a lunatic who evoked several laughs in the film, has said in an interview that he won't be a part of CID Moosa 2.
"I don't think a sequel to CID Moosa should be made. Even if it does, I am not interested in reprising my role. My character in CID Moosa was that of a lunatic who fools around, committing mischief and absurd acts. That was in 2003. I cannot play such a character now. I am past the age to play such characters. Young actors are better suited for such roles," Salim said in an interview with Behind Woods Media.
Harisree Ashokan is ready for CID Moosa 2
While Salim Kumar has clearly said that he will not be part of the sequel, Harisree Ashokan, who played a thief named Thorappan Kochunni in CID Moosa, has said that he is ready to play any character as long as it suits him. He also expressed his interest in essaying characters like Kochunni in CID Moosa.
Dileep confirms CID Moosa's sequel
Dileep had confirmed the sequel to CID Moosa during the promotions of his film Voice of Sathyanathan in Kochi. The actor said that he has reached out to the writers Siby K Thomas and Udaykrishna, and the film is expected to get into the pre-production stage in 2024.

CID Moosa, an action-comedy entertainer that was released in 2003, was helmed by Johny Antony. It revolves around the life of a private detective and his attempts to solve cases. Bhavana was the female lead of the movie that was a big commercial hit and was remade in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
