Filmmaker Atlee had apparently collaborated with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan for his next directorial. Tentatively titled A6, the movie was reportedly going to be made on a budget of a whopping Rs 500 crore. The latest development is that Salman and Atlee's film has been put on hold due to casting issues. According to a media report, director-actor duo Atlee and Salman had approached Hollywood star Will Smith for the film.
A Bollywood Hungama report suggests director Atlee was keen about casting Will Smith in the film. It happened after veteran actor Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth's casting didn't work out for the movie.
"Salman helped Atlee connect to Will Smith and the conversations were proceeding on a very positive side. But in a shocking turn of events, Sun Pictures demanded the presence of a South Superstar in the film alongside Salman," a source told the entertainment portal.
However, Sun Pictures is reportedly particular about its stance of being a production banner that backs big films with South superstars. After Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan's casting didn't work, the production banner disassociated themselves. They apparently informed Atlee to hold onto the things and rework.
Talking about the current status of the film, a source mentioned, "Atlee and Salman continue to be in talks and are trying to resolve all the issues with Sun Pictures. Both the powerhouses want to collaborate and do this film, as its a dream they want to bring to life. We will get a clear picture of the scenario of A6 with Salman by the end of March."
Meanwhile, Salman's upcoming film in AR Murugadoss' Sikandar. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film is set for a theatrical release on Eid 2025. The film's star cast includes Rashmika Mandanna, Pooja Hegde, Sathyaraj and Prateik Babbar.
