His latest film, Sikandar, faced such troubles when the movie entered the Rs. 100 crore club only after its second Sunday release. In the hope of reviving his acting career, it appears that Salman Khan has almost signed the dotted line for Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2.

Has Salman Khan actually signed Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2?

There's strong buzz that Salman Khan has been meeting screenwriter V. Vijayendra Prasad to discuss Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2. The more exciting news we hear is that Kabir Khan is also on board and that they might have finally found a script worthy of Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2. It is to be noted that Vijayendra Prasad had confirmed that the script for Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2 is ready and he needs to meet Salman to take things forward. With the latest buzz, it looks like the film might just be on track and in the pre-production work.

Salman Khan's post-pandemic releases

Salman Khan was one of the first superstars after Akshay Kumar who dared to release his movie in theatres when no audiences would be going to theatres out of fear of COVID-19. Salman began his movie streak with Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai, which released both in theatres and on OTT. Unfortunately, the movie did not work in theatres because audiences would not leave their homes. But the film did bring joy to Bhaijaan's fans, who could finally see a movie featuring him after the pandemic.

Before Sikandar, Salman Khan made buzz for his previous Eid release Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. The movie, originally titled Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali, is an ensemble film where Salman came together with Pooja Hegde. Was Salman Khan a victim of bad marketing with Sikandar? Decoded

Many have pointed out how Salman Khan became a victim of bad marketing when it came to his latest Eid offering, Sikandar. The actor changed the strategy of his film's release and things were delayed till the very last moment. It began with the trailer buzz being there but it actually released only a week before the movie's release. 

Furthermore, while other actors bank on the weekend before a big holiday, Sikandar tried to bank on one day alone before Eid. This fell flat, since Salman's film, which might have otherwise earned Rs. 100 crore in the first weekend, got just one day to cross the milestone, and the pressure was on. What's worse is that curious fans leaked Sikandar 24 hours before the film released in theatres, probably because they expected the film to follow the Friday release and demanded to watch the movie anyhow. All these factors led to Salman Khan's Sikandar debacle, with the movie barely entering the Rs. 100 crore club by the second Sunday of its release. Salman and Kabir Khan's collaboration, on the other hand, has been a solid one (they have joined hands on Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan in the past) and thus, if Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2 is actually made, it might end as a game-changer for Khan, and a much-needed one.
