Salman Khan’s upcoming intense-drama Battle of Galwan is now titled Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace. The makers have shared the news with a new poster. The image reveals Salman Khan in an intense look. The actor lets his eyes and one hand do the talking. The poster in itself promises heavy action.
Salman Khan’s movie Battle of Galwan, which is self-explanatory about the storyline, has just been renamed as Maatrubhumi. Through the new title, the makers hint at the sentiment of how the soil you were born on plays an important role in the film.
The Maatrubhumi poster unveiled sees Salman Khan hold the very baton he has done so far for Battle of Galwan. It is spiked with barber wire, but the fearless soldier holds it anyway as dust particles settle in the background. Salman Khan’s eyes, the bleeding hand holding the baton and deep cut on his forehead do most of the talking in the poster.
Maatrubhumi was the first song that was released from the movie, Battle of Galwan. It was Salman Khan and Arijit Singh’s last collaboration before the singer takes a long break from Bollywood. Salman promoted the song often, probably leaving hints all the way that a title change could be on the table. He often credited and thanked Himesh Reshammiya for composing the music of the track. It is now the title track of the movie.
Battle of Galwan, now Maatrubhumi, is the story based on the Indo-China battle that took place in the Galwan valley closer to Ladakh back in 2020. Most of the battle involved hand-to-hand combat. It is where 20 Indian soldiers were martyred. The movie, based on the very battle, is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and features Chitrangda Singh as the female lead (Salman and Chitrangda’s first collaboration). It is scheduled to be out in theatres on August 14, 2026.
