Salman Khan will be seen in Apoorva Lakhia's war drama Battle of Galwan. After the first teaser for the Battle of Galwan was released, Chinese media have been accusing the film of "distorting facts" about the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers. Amid this, a new report suggested that the Battle of Galwan is not a biopic and shared climax details.
Hindustan Times reported that the Battle of Galwan is based on the true incidents of the 2020 Galwan Valley clash, but is not a biopic. “Salman Khan’s Galwan is not a biopic on Colonel Santosh Babu. The film is based on the true events of the Galwan Valley clash. Known for conveying strong messages of humanity through his films, Salman Khan is expected to present a powerful human angle in the film’s climax,” the source stated.
Chinese media outlet, the Global Times, accuse Battle of Galwan of "distorting facts" and fabricating history. China's official stance is that Indian troops illegally crossed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and triggered the conflict, a claim that contradicts the possibility that the film depicts the Indian perspective.
The report also bashed India's use of cinema to "stir nationalistic sentiment," and called it reflective of "a deeply rooted cultural and political tradition."
Battle of Galwan is an upcoming Bollywood war-action film starring Salman Khan and Chitrangada Singh (playing the lead alongside Khan), directed by Apoorva Lakhia. It is based on the real 2020 deadly clash between Indian & Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley, where soldiers fought hand-to-hand with sticks and stones, demonstrating courage and sacrifice.
In the film, Khan portrays the real-life hero Colonel B. Santosh Babu, leading his troops against overwhelming odds in a tribute to the Indian Army's spirit.
