Dulquer Salmaan will be following up his big budget, crime saga Kurup with an equally pulsating thriller – Salute. The team released the first trailer of the movie today and it promises to keep the audience on the edge of their seats.

Directed by Rosshan Andrrews and scripted by Bobby and Sanjay, the trio that created gripping cop thrillers such as Mumbai Police and School Bus, Salute’s first trailer shows that it’s a riveting thriller that has its protagonist Aravind Karunakaran obsessed with a crime.

Much like Kurup, Dulquer will be seen in more than one get-up in the movie and the trailer shows him in at least two – one as a cop who is just finding his footing and another as a confident investigator who seems to have to be ahead in the race to catch the culprit.

The trailer also reveals the first glimpse of Bollywood actress Diana Penty’s character in the movie, which marks her Mollywood debut. Diana’s character asks Aravind, ‘What’s more important – their happiness?’, slightly hinting at how much solving the case is eating at the protagonist’s personal life.

Considering that Bobby and Sanjay are scripting the film, it’s safe to say that the movie will have multiple layers and each of the characters will have their due as they go through emotional turmoil pegged at the crime. Manoj K Jayan plays Aravind’s elder brother and a model police officer in the movie, which is edited by Sreekar Prasad and has cinematography by Aslam K Purayil.

Jakes Bejoy’s music is sure to keep the mood intense. The film also stars Binu Pappu, Saniya Iyyappan, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Alencier, Boban Alamoodan, Vijayakumar and Saikumar. Salute’s filming was completed in Kerala and Hyderabad earlier this year and the film is scheduled to hit theatres across the world on January 14, 2022.
